We are very lucky to have a great garden in which to hold our event. There will be games to play; food to eat and music to listen to. We try to raise a little money for the nursery as part of holding the event. Please feel free to tell families who have left that they are welcome to come along. &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Leavers parties</strong> - Each shelter holds a leavers party for the children leaving their shelter to go to primary school. They have a ceremony first, when each child gets a certificate and a book. The families are given the children&#39;s Special Books and Profiles as a record of the learning journey they have made at Rachel McMillan so they can keep them at home. The families are asked to contribute some food (nothing with pork or nuts in please) the staff arrange the shelters so all the children can sit down together and eat. Important announcement!!!<p>All the reception teachers across the country do an assessment on the children at the end of reception called the Foundation Stage Profile (FSP). This shows how well they have done in nursery and reception.&nbsp;</p> <p>We always have a look at the results and we are very pleased to be able to tell you that the FSP results for all the Rachel McMillan children who went to Greenwich Primary Schools in September 2013 are amazing!!!!</p> <p>The measure is called &lsquo;Good Level of Development (GLD)&rsquo;.&nbsp;</p> <p>Nationally 60% of children got a GLD.</p> <p>In Greenwich 73% of children got a GLD (Greenwich were 2nd in the country)</p> <p>86% of the Rachel McMillan children who went to Greenwich schools got a GLD!!!<br /> That is amazing!!!</p> <p>All the staff at Rachel McMillan are really proud that they have contributed to the children doing so well.</p>, 17 Dec 2014 15:54:33 GMTSt Nicholas’ church<p>On Tuesday 16th December, all the shelters visited St Nicholas&rsquo; church. The church is just next door and is a lovely old building. We go every year and sing Christmas songs such as &lsquo;When Santa got stuck up the chimney&rsquo;, &lsquo;Jingle Bells&rsquo; and &lsquo;Twinkle Twinkle Little Star&rsquo;. Louise, the vicar, is always very pleased to see us and she makes the church look lovely with candles and a crib. Lots of mums and dads came with us and the singing was very lovely!
